(1) Disclaimer

This is an apolitical scenario dedicated to Civilization II. This is NOT an Nazi scneario and I am NOT a Nazi.

(2) Basic Background Information:

I assume I could leave this part out but you can never tell ...

When the first German soldiers entered Poland on 1 September 1939 it was not really clear that this conflict, a European territorial war, would become the world's largest and most destructive war ever fought. In this winter no-one thought that this war would be fought on all continents, in all oceans and in the air, leaving no-one un-affected by it.

During the 2.194 days of war after this infamous 1 September 1939, and the uncoditional Japanes surrender aboard the USS Missouri in the Tokyo bight lie over 50.000.000 dead, more than twice this number in any other way casualties of war, towns, cities, whole regions were emptied of inhabitants and devastated.

(3) Basic Gameplay Information:

The MAP is only partly stackable. The Mountain terrain is not stackable. The Sea/River squares are stackable. Therefore MP/PBEM players have to follow this HOUSE RULE: Disband troops loaded upon a sunken transport. (Yeah, this scenario is designed as a MP/PBEM scenario but someone could always play it in SP mode too.)

You will be able to build AIRBASES once you discover the technology of Radio Communications. Be advised that you must pillage the stackable terrain before being able to construct an airbase (save on Mountain squares).

CIV-SPECIFIC TECHNOLOGIES are also included into this scenario.

To AVOID AIR-PROTECTED STACKS all ground units were give the 'fighter flag'. This means that your ground units can attack air-protected stacks without problems. Thus, disabling those damned air-protected stacks but another problem rises: The AI will not understand it. Please be careful when you play this scenario in SP.

TERRAIN KNOWLEDGE might prove more than vital to you war effort. The different terrain types have all different effects on the defence and attack power of your units. I aimed to recreate a more than bloody stalemate, so watch WHERE you position your troops!

NOT-MAJOR POWERS like the minor Axis nations like Finland or Romania are represented in two different ways:
(a) Minor Axis Civ. This civ includes Finland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria and is NOT PLAYABLE. (b) Neutrals. I assume this one self-explanatory. This civ includes Spain, portugal, Turkey, Switzerland and Sweden. No trespassing allowed/possible.
(c) Objectives: All those other countries involved in the 2nd World War. This civ includes Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Iceland and the Free State of Danzig/Gdansk.

One last SIDENOTE:

You should try to stick to the book. This is not meant as a definitive restriction of gameplay but a necessity due to the nature of this scenario. I added some of the features below:
(a) DIPLOMACY is generally disabled and follows the book. Please note that as Germany you CAN conquer Europe before in 1941 you MUST attack the USSR. You should make sure you and your Italian ally control most of continental Europe to increase your chances against the USSR. As the USSR you have to prepare yourself for the German onslaught. The Red Army is not in too good a shape and you have only limited time to get ready.
(b) Playing the Allies (France, United Kingdom) you MUST try to fight with what you have got. Again, like in reality, the Western allies planned to defend France until 1941 when they would have been strong enough to face the Wehrmacht. If you cannot hold on to France be careful for the Germans COULD whip the Englishmen - IF the manage to annihilate the RAF.
(c) HOUSE RULES: NO tech trading. NO government switching. ONLY map exchanges, money gifts and trading cities according to armistice/peace treaties are allowed.

(4) Information on Generic and Specific Units:

Some more or less GENERIC UNITS like the ones noted below are standard units. They are buildable without restrictions - save the general unit limit, of course. Those units have a fair attack value but might loose against each other when the defending unit is on a terrain square with a good defence bonus. (The units with a * are not buildable.)

Engineers
Infantry*
Stongpost*
Greek Troops*
Divisional Artillery
Freighter
Destroyer
Cruiser
Battleship
Submarine
Aircraft Carrier
Polish Troops*
Fighter*
Supply Convoy
Yugoslav Troops*
AA Guns

The other units are CIV-SPECIFIC STANDARD UNITS and are buildable without restrictions - save the general unit limit, of course. Those units have a fair attack value but might loose against each other when the defending unit is on a terrain square with a good defence bonus.
